Prerequisite: See N.B. Numbers (1) and (3). This course brings anthropological and sociological perspectives to bear on the ways in which youths view and interact with each other and the world. NOTE: Students who have received credit for ANTH 349 or for this topic under an ANTH 398 or SOCI 398 number may not take this course for credit. This article attempts to analyze various individual as well as organizational sources of resistance to change and their impact on the successful implementation of change. Individual sources of change are the subjective factors, personal habits, inherent fear or inertia and perceptual factors which may act as barriers to implementation of organization-wide change. In addition to affecting aspects of the education system, standards may also interact with various sectors of society and the general public in numerous ways.This chapter explores the public and political arenas within which the U.S. Education system operates. Fullan (2000) uses the term
